August 2018 Prayer Letter

Dear Pastor & Church,

Stan’s Mom passed away

Thank you again for your prayers and support these last 2 months. We are writing this letter stateside and this has been one of the hardest letters to get around to writing. In June, I found out my mom – who had been sick for some time, had taken a turn for the worse. I decided to travel back from PNG to Oklahoma but she passed away as I was just beginning the journey. I made it into Tulsa a couple days later in time for the funeral. Tresa, as well as Norm and Aaron arrived the following week.

Well, thankfully my mom was a Christian. In fact, she was the one who led me to Christ. I am so thankful for the good news of the gospel. And it is good news! Experiencing it makes the gospel more personal than just teaching and preaching it. Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”

Furlough Plans

After some time to pray and reflect on counsel and advice, we have decided that a 9 month furlough would be the best option for our family. Lord willing, we plan to be reporting back to churches from September to April. This will take advantage of the thousands spent on tickets, as well as give time to take care of some personal needs, and to visit many supporting churches that haven’t been reported to since 2014.

I will begin calling and emailing to set up plans or you may call me on this phone number: (539) 215-0525 or email:

In Him,
Stan Rowe and Family
